Role Overview
A High School Captain is the lead student organizer at their school for Initiative 81. Captains are the main point of contact between the initiative’s core team and their school community, working with peers, faculty mentors, and adult volunteers to help move the initiative forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize: Coordinate outreach efforts within your school, including Student Council, clubs, and community networks.
- Recruit: Help identify and encourage adult volunteers (18+) to serve as petition circulators, since students under 18 can’t legally carry petitions.
- Communicate: Share updates, materials, and deadlines from the Initiative 81 team to students and staff at your school.
- Collaborate: Work with other High School Captains across the entire state of Colorado to ensure coverage and coordination.
- Lead by Example: Represent the student voice, demonstrate civic leadership, and keep momentum alive—even when balancing academics and activities.
